Following an official announcement of a big live stream happening later today from OpenAI, GitHub revealed the company’s long-anticipated GPT-5 models. While the blog post has been deleted, Redditors were able to spot and archive it before OpenAI unveils its next-generation of GPTs.

After a few delays and the promise of unifying the ChatGPT GPTs models, it seems OpenAI will focus on four different possibilities. The archived version of this GitHub post (via The Verge) spotlights the major improvements in reasoning, code quality, and user experience people will have with GPT-5.

These will be the models available:

    • gpt-5: Designed for logic and multi-step tasks.
    • gpt-5-mini: A lightweight version for cost sensitive applications.
    • gpt-5-nano: Optimized for speed and ideal for applications requiring low latency.
    • gpt-5-chat: Designed for advanced, natural, multimodal, and context-aware conversations for enterprise applications.

Still, what’s more interesting about the GPT-5 leak from OpenAI is that it will be able to handle complex coding tasks with minimal prompting.

Before this leak, The Information reported on at least three of the new models. At that time, the publication said that even though several models would be available, OpenAI would always select the best version based on your requirements.

Still, OpenAI’s GPT-5 might not be as groundbreaking as the leap from GPT-3 to GPT-4 due to increasing infrastructure cost and the lack of data to train these new models. That said, users will soon be able to see the benefits of this new version, as it will be able to interpret text, images, and audio. The context window is likely to be increased with improvements in memory, and giving the AI the ability to handle more data at once.

OpenAI’s livestream will begin at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET. This announcement will come just after the company unveiled its first open-weight models with versions to run locally on a computer and one that can even be used on the smartphone, and mental health guardrails for ChatGPT.

BGR will bring all the details as soon as OpenAI’s livestream wraps up.
