DIGITAL INNOVATION takes centre stage in Dubai as the Department of Economic Development’s Small and Medium Enterprise arm launches a dedicated incubator programme. The initiative, named Hi2, is set to nurture 20 Emirati entrepreneurs who are developing technology-driven solutions across a range of sectors.

The programme has been designed to provide a comprehensive support package that includes access to industry experts, seed funding, and fully equipped office space. Participants will receive tailored mentorship from senior professionals in technology, business development and international trade. In addition, the incubator offers exposure to potential investors and partners through regular pitch sessions and networking events.

According to officials, the incubator’s focus is on projects that can create high-value jobs and contribute to the diversification of the UAE economy. Startups are encouraged to work on solutions that address local challenges such as smart city infrastructure, sustainability, and digital health. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader strategy to position the city as a global hub for technology and entrepreneurship.

The 20 selected entrepreneurs come from a diverse set of backgrounds, ranging from artificial intelligence and blockchain to e-commerce and fintech. Each participant will receive a customised roadmap that outlines key milestones, resource needs and potential market opportunities. The programme also offers workshops on regulatory compliance, intellectual property protection and cross-border trade.

While the incubator provides tangible resources, it also places a strong emphasis on community building. Participants will have the chance to collaborate with peers, share best-practice insights and develop cross-functional partnerships. This collaborative environment is expected to accelerate product development cycles and increase the likelihood of successful market entry.

For entrepreneurs looking to scale beyond the UAE, the incubator offers access to a network of regional and international partners. The programme’s partners include leading venture capital firms, corporate innovation labs and academic institutions. Through these relationships, startups can secure additional funding rounds and strategic alliances that will help them expand into new markets.

It is important to note that the information provided here is general in nature and does not constitute financial advice. Individuals are encouraged to seek professional guidance before making investment decisions.

In summary, Dubai SME’s Hi2 incubator is a significant step toward fostering a vibrant technology ecosystem in the UAE. By equipping 20 Emirati entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge and networks they need, the programme aims to drive innovation, create jobs and contribute to the country’s economic resilience.
